BIKESPRESSO

Project: Urban Mobility

Coffee is a very popular culture in Italy since the old times. One thing that I thought it was very interesting since I came to Milan was that no body ever did take away for coffee. Although when they do not have time, they would still stand in front of the bar, where the barista make them coffee and drink up. In Japanese, we can call it Tachinomi meaning Drink-ing while Standing.I had a very interesting experience this weekend in Brescia, a city one hour away from Milan. I had my very first Tachinomi experience and thought it wasn't a bad idea at all because usually I had to sit when I drink or eat (otherwise, I take away and eat somewhere else). The coffee was so much cheaper and it was faster to move. The interest- ing point is that pedestrians could do this easily, however, it might not be convenient for bikers because they would need to park their bike and lock them, in which will consume time. I believe that it would be convenient for those bikers if they have a café for bikes. Although it wouldn’t be very logical if the pedestri- ans can’t have coffee just because they do not own bikes. So I would like to design a café or a temporary stand that will be convenient for both bik- ers and pedestrians. By doing this, I would like to create a new tradition of having a “Drinking while Standing” Coffee for the bikers.
